Dear Parishioners and Friends of Sacred Heart Parish,

Sacred Heart Parish continues to contemplate the Face of Christ throughout 2006 and 2007.  Once again we have an all star line-up helping us to deepen our understanding and love for the Catholic Church as the most beautiful instrument of our Lord’s Grace in the world.

Often there are questions posed about events both dramatic, important and perhaps even controversial in through the history of the Church.  These can sometimes be a source of confusion and misunderstanding for believers and non-believers alike.  This is your opportunity to have your questions answered of the Church’s role in the lives of her people throughout history and now this impacts our lives today.

We will also reflect with Sheila Liaugminas on the how the faith is communicated to us in the modern world and through the modern high tech media.  Sheila brings a wealth of journalistic experience in both the secular and Catholic media.  She will speak about her own challenges, joys and struggles living in this high tech world.

 Mother Assumpta Long, OP, is an excellent speaker and is the wise and faithful Mother Superior of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.  Her community under her direction continues to realize and sustained flowering of religious vocations in a time when many religious communities are closing their doors.  She will help us better understand the vocation of all the Christian faithful to holiness and eternal happiness.

Dr. D’Ambrosio is a frequent columnist in Our Sunday Visitor as well as a renowned lecturer.  He will help us better understand our faith and how it is lived in the modern world.

 You are already aware of the tremendous success of our Bible Study program.  The Spring will also introduce us to a mini-course on the history of the Church conducted by Daniel Cheely.  He makes history fun and informative.  You will have the opportunity to go into greater depth with him regarding all those issues surfaced by Father Connor at the beginning of our year together.

 This is a new and different way of learning about our faith.  If the newspaper or the evening news have been your main source for understanding your faith, you might want to hear it from someone who really knows what they are talking about.
