Later, and Why Humanae Vitae Was Right: A Reader, as well as numerous celebrated articles about such topics as; Abortion, Bio-ethics, Moral Philosophy, and Feminism, Professor Smith currently holds the Father Michael McGivney Chair of Life
Issues at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, Michigan. She has taught at University of Notre
Dame, and is currently a
Consulter to the Pontifical Council for the Family.
Her lecture, "Contraception, Why
Not?" has clarified for many the Church's position on issues such as
artificial birth control, natural family planning, and sexuality in marriage. She is regarded nationally and internationally as an authority on
Humanae Vitae, and though her discussions make frequent reference to Church doctrine and documents, natural law and philosophy, Professor Smith is able to present the truth in an uncomplicated and convincing manner.
